Our newest member, Eunice Smith

Three Girls by Eunice Smith
Eunice is a native Northwest resident who recently has expanded her repertoire to include mixed media art and collage. Collage has definitely energized her artistic process. She likes her art to tell a story, using images pulled from many sources and combined to develop a new story. Eunice also likes to make people smile and hope they enjoy her art as much as she enjoys making it.
Eunice is a member of Seattle Co-Arts, Seattle League of Arts, and Northwest Collage Society.

Sedro Wooley paint-out

Billie, Sallie had a great time at Sedro Woolley. They had a gala for all the artists at the Saquamish casino..... very nice.  We had our sketches judged and S
allie made a sale. I now have this painting hanging in the Lyman City Hall. Great little town with the distinction of having the horniest tavern in the world, well maybe and great steak dinners.  mraz

Morning Bliss

The Duck Pond, oil on panel
This morning I was lucky enough to sketch at Golden Gardens with a friend.  Painting in public is like working at the Art Stall -- people stop to talk from all over the world!  I came away with this little 7" x 5" sketch.  I did not paint the heron because I was sure he would leave if I started!  But he stayed the whole time.

Flower Field, Methow Valley

When I saw this flower field while walking along a dirt road at a ranch in the Methow Valley,  I knew I had found the site I wanted to paint!

Rainbow Chard

While watering my vegetable garden I was inspired by the view of backlit chard. Wanting to try out some new paints, I got to work! Not only is this chard beautiful, but it's tasty as well!

Abstract Waterfall

While setting up my gear to paint a lovely waterfall in Bellevue Botanical Gardens, I discovered my tripod was broken.  Luckily, I spotted a flat rock next to the waterfall to sit on and propped my paint box against a bush.  After blocking in the big shapes and values, I decided to stop there.........my first landscape abstract.  Fun!

Come to the Market!

The heart of Seattle, Pike Place Market offers food for the senses and the soul!

Keeping Up With the Joans -- July 26 through August 2014

Dead Bug VII, Joan Glenn watercolor
It's crunch time for Joan Reeves and Joan Glenn as they prepare for their "Keeping Up With the Joans" show at the Art Stall Gallery.  The show will run from July 25th through August 28th.
Seattle Style, Joan Reeves watercolor
The two friends are combining their skills to produce a show featuring their favorite subjects and the spectacular views of the Northwest.
With a combined 75 years as members of the Art Stall, the two watercolor artists have observed and painted the changing face of their beloved Pike Place Market, the Northwest, and the various World wide locations they've visited.
Joan Glenn writes:  "My studio looks like the aftermath of a major natural disaster. Framing 17 paintings produces confused clutter that only other frantic artists can appreciate.  But the excitement of finally seeing the work of weeks and months framed and ready for hanging makes it all worthwhile.  (I'm hoping to locate my telephone, car keys, and the family cat, within the next week or so.)"

"The Little House," oil pastel by Marsha Lippert

The Little House, © 2014 Marsha Lippert, oil pastel

The first time I painted the little house plein air, it was 90+ degrees! Located on one of the last pieces of acreage within the city limits of Portland, Oregon; the plein air painting process was so enjoyable, I barely noticed the high temperature.

Lopez Island view

Spent a couple of days on Lopez Island in June, sat on the beach on a still, shimmery morning and painted this view of the Preserve.
